Police Dog Libby
2011-2022
Handled by PC Neal Skinner
Police Dog “Libby” was an English Springer Spaniel, who came to Hampshire Police from West Mids Police. She was bred for the London Olympics 2012. She was trained to search for drugs, weapons (firearms) and cash. During her career she was the most successful search dog by far. She recovered close to £100,000 in cash, millions of pounds worth of drugs and 2 live firearms. This was from searching buildings, open areas and vehicles. She was great friends with Police Dog “Gaz” until his sad passing.
She was involved in royal weddings and NATO conferences and lots of high profile operations and incidents, including too many festivals to mention. She was trained to operate on boats and was regularly seen working with the marine section of Hampshire Police.
Towards the end of her career her health deteriorated and she sadly passed away one week before her retirement. She was a lovely little dog and an absolute honour to have worked with. She will be sadly missed by all who knew this little diamond!
