Solent Sky Museum
The museum showcases the international importance of aviation history in Southampton and Solent area. The Solent region gave birth to the Spitfire, as well as being the home of the Imperial Airways flying boats. Between 1910 and 1960 local aircraft manufacturers produced an incredible variety of flying machines, from experimental rocket fighters to hovercraft, helicopters and spacecraft. The museum has over 20 airframes on display from the golden age of aviation, including the Spitfire, the record-breaking Supermarine S6 and the giant Sandringham flying boat.
