We are currently researching the work and culture of detectives in Hampshire after the second world war and up to amalgamation of the Hampshire forces in 1967. There is not a great deal of documentary evidence to help us with this subject and we are looking for people to come forward who perhaps served in this period (or was in some other way connected to this period) so one of our members can carry out an oral interview with you. We are hoping that this will result in a book which will throw light not just on what detectives did, but how they functioned, how they were trained, their relationships with uniformed colleagues and any other rich, cultural issues which will help to paint a vivid picture.
If you would like to be spoken to, we would welcome contact from anyone who worked within the CID environment or who has views and information about how the CID operated. You will be sent a short aide memoire which will inform you of the areas to be explored and can prepare you for a telephone or zoom interview which would last for around one hour. To get in contact please send an email to hchscurator@btinternet.com Thank you.
