James Ernest Dennis McHaffie

1929-1985

James was born on 5th July 1929 in Grateley near Andover.

He served for two years with the Military Police, being discharged on 15th August 1949.

James joined Hampshire Constabulary on 31st August 1949 as Police Constable 304. At the time he was an Assistant Storekeeper with Graviner Manufacturing Co, Gosport Road, Fareham and was living at 86 Gudge Heath Lane, Fareham. He married his wife, Gladys Cummins, in January 1953 at Andover.

James served at Tidworth, Hurstbourne Tarrant, Petersfield, Eastleigh, Netley, Southampton Central and Portsea Island Central, retiring on 6th April 1982. He also  represented Hampshire Constabulary at lawn green bowls.

James died in January 1985 in Southampton and is buried at St Barnabas Churchyard, Faccombe, Test Valley.
