James Drew
1981-2009
Police Constable James Drew, of Eastleigh, was on his way to work at Alton Police Station when his Skoda Octavia crashed into a garden in Alresford Road, near Winchester, sometime between 0600 and 0700 on Thursday 22nd January 2009.
Although he was cut from the vehicle and taken to hospital, he passed away later that day. It is thought that James was heading eastbound towards Alton along the A31, about half a mile east of the Percy Hobbs roundabout, when he lost control in a dip in the road.
James went to Toynbee School in Chandlers Ford, and throughout his life had been very interested in cars and motorcycles. He also enjoyed football, and was a keen follower of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
“He was a popular man who very much enjoyed his job as a police officer, and socialising with friends and family.”
