Police Dog Yuri

2016-2026
Handled by PS 21683 Jim Hyman

Police Dog Yuri served the Joint Operations Unit as an Explosive Detection Search Dog from 2017 until his retirement in 2025.

Throughout his distinguished career, Yuri supported some of the UK’s most significant security operations, including The Commonwealth Games, COP26, Royal Ascot, state royal events, royal weddings, the funeral of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, and the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III.

Highly skilled, dependable and professional, Yuri earned the respect of all who worked alongside him. More than just an exceptional search dog, he was a loyal partner, trusted colleague and valued member of the policing family.

Following a short retirement, Yuri was sadly put to sleep in April 2026 after illness.

His service, dedication and companionship will not be forgotten.

“A great search dog and an even better crew mate.”
